Eerie, Indiana fanfiction: Lady in Red

Written for the [livejournal.com profile] 31_days challenge, The prompt was: Spark to the flame

"Chris de Burgh?"

"Okay, before you get mad-"

"Chris de Burgh?!"

"Well, yes, but-"

"Chris de fucking Burgh, Simon, seriously?!"

Simon sighed and put down his screwdriver. The old-fashioned cathedral-style radio that had previously only played music from the 1940s continued to blast "Lady in Red" at top volume, reverberating throughout the Secret Spot. When Marilyn came up the stairs to let them know dinner was ready, they still hadn't worked out how to turn it off.

"Oh, how romantic!" she sighed. "You know, Marshall, this song was almost the reason you had a little brother or sister."

Marshall glared at Simon. Simon hung his head.

In the end, they found a purifying ritual in the occult section of the Eerie library, and burned the cursed radio under a new moon on a funeral pyre made from copies of Spark to a Flame, hoping to lay the evil spirit of Chris de Burgh to rest.

It wasn't a complete success, however; the dark magic freed from the radio found it's way back to it's owner, and the following year, Power of Ten was released.

Aww, elder Teller cuteness and Simon's taste in music! Poor Marshall.

I love the idea that Eerie weirdness was directly responsible for at least one Chris de Burgh album.
