BiffBamPop on life in a small fandom
I have written at length and some would say, excessively about the PlayStation classic game MediEvil…and I’m still not done! I will seriously write about my love for this video game until someone begs me to stop and even then I’ll keep going (there IS a MediEvil comic coming soon so you’ve been warned).
Everyone out there seems to remember the game as one of the included titles on the PlayStation demo discs that were packed in with video game magazines or just randomly given away at video game shops, but few people actually went out and bought the game. At least, that’s my perception of events as MediEvil sold well enough to get a (not very good) sequel and that was that.
Until now! We’re in a new MediEvil golden age of remasters, comic books and this amazing statue! Admittedly, I am torn between the ultimate physical manifestation of my love for this game and actually shelling out $250 for it. I feel compelled to cripple my wallet and just order the damn thing because it is exceedingly rare that something perfectly suited for my niche tastes actually gets made. Next thing you know they’ll be offering an Eerie, Indiana super-limited edition Blu-ray box set…
From the product description: Level52 Studios is proud to present Sir Daniel Fortesque, in his first-ever collectable statue form! He is a slightly-inept (and long-dead) knight accidentally resurrected by his greatest enemy, the evil sorcerer Zarok. With a second chance to foil his greatest foe, Sir Dan will once again set out to save the kingdom of Gallowmere and reclaim his place within the Hall of Heroes. He’s starting his quest by taking a big first step, onto a zombie’s face!
Standing 9.25 inches tall and produced in polystone, this edition of the finely crafted collectable is highly limited (750 pieces).
Temptation, thy name is Sir Daniel Fortesque.
The statue is available for pre-order now and expected to ship in the 2nd quarter of 2020…which gives me plenty of time to agonize about ordering it.
