Hello Eerie friends!

For those who don't know, [personal profile] deifire and I are getting married! Next week! Our theme? Eerie, Indiana!

In light of this, I thought it was high time for a fandom celebration.

So welcome to our comm/fandom-wide bachelor* party (I guess?)

What we're gonna do:

Eerie meets weddings! Basically, you can comment with any meta, fics, artwork, prompts, etc... that relates to Eerie characters and getting married!

Want to talk about why A Ship would make an excellent (or terrible) married couple? Go for it!

Been craving some shmoopy wedding fic about your faves? Throw up a prompt and let the fic come to you!

Have some wedding-themed flash fic in you? Let's see it!

All things Eerie meets weddings (and maybe how the wedding industrial complex works in Eerie?) is a go!

Play nice, have fun!

Please include any relevant warnings and ratings at the beginning of your comments!

To Whom It May Concern:

On this, the thirtieth anniversary of the premiere of Eerie, Indiana, [personal profile] evilinsanemonkey and I would like would like to announce our intention to embark upon what we hope to be the greatest and longest running fan collaboration in Eerie history.

After much consideration, we have decided to terminate our current romantic and domestic partnership in recognition of the fact that we are better weird and wed.

Stay tuned in 2022 to help us celebrate our Eerie-themed wedding!

And possibly begin the first steps to creating a centralized location for links to Eerie fics, regardless of where they're hosted?

Cuz my final project for one of my classes is going to be exactly that! A library of Eerie fics!

I want to get more thoughts on what kind of information people want to be able to search by, so I made a google form, you can fill it out here!

Thank you so much in advance!

I finally did something I've been meaning to do for years and started a page for Eerie on the Fanlore wiki!

There are a lot of sections that still need work--including fandom overview (especially pre-LJ fandom history, which I do not know) and example fanworks--so please feel free to edit or suggest edits.

It’s almost that time again: International Fanworks Day is coming up fast! Held annually on February 15th, we have a lot planned out and hope you will join us to celebrate!

What is International Fanworks Day?
Founded by the OTW in 2014 and first celebrated in 2015, International Fanworks Day is a day of celebration for all forms of fanworks in their infinite diversity and incredible creativity from around the world. Whether it be fanfiction, podfic, animation, fanvids, podcasts, fanart, or anything else you can think of, we want to take this opportunity to spend time with creators and fans alike.

Fanworks Challenge: share your favourite lesser known fandoms/fanworks!
This year, given that AO3 recently passed 40,000 fandoms, we want to celebrate all things lesser-known, whether it’s a microfandom you want new folks to join, a work or fandom that deserves more exposure, or a work in a huge fandom that you think deserves more love – and anything in between! From now until #IFD2021 we would like to invite you to share with us your favourite lesser known works or fandoms on social media using the #IFDChallenge2021 hashtag, and we will reblog some of our favourites on our social media channels from the 8th – 15th February.

We would also love to see fanwork creators seeking out small fandoms, minor characters, lesser-known pairings, and so on, and creating works for them! Between now and February 15th we challenge creators to find a smaller fandom, pairing, character, etc that is new to them and create a fanwork for it, using the tag ‘International Fanworks Day 2021’ so we can all enjoy them!

In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love.

At the risk of being predictable...

Eerie, Indiana aired on NBC from September 15, 1991 to April 12, 1992. It focuses on Marshall Teller, who's just moved from New Jersey to Eerie with his family, and he's pretty sure Eerie is the center of weirdness for the entire planet. Together with his neighbor, Simon Holmes, he investigates the strange things that happen and tries to figure out what exactly it is that makes Eerie, well, Eerie.

While the show only initially aired 18 of 19 episodes and was canceled after one season, it was syndicated on the Disney channel in 1993 and then again in 1997 on Fox. I'm A Relative Youngin' when it comes to this fandom, so I remember watching it on Fox and absolutely loving it. When the DVDs were released in 2004, I immediately bought them and was excited to find out that Eerie lived up to my memory. (The DVDs are no longer available but you can get Eerie on Amazon Prime).

The show itself is well done, strange and weird and full of intrigue. It's fun to watch whether you're a kid or All Grown Up. And it also has one of my favorite fandoms to be in. We are small, but we are pretty spectacular. There's the [community profile] eerieindiana comm, run by the amazing [personal profile] froodle, a podcast called Return to Eerie Indiana that just came out this past year and is so much fun to listen to, talented fanfic writers and aritsts, and lots of theories and ideas and headcanons to play around with.
