Wayward Scientist's top nine and the inspiration behind the Obscure Media Archives

Ahhh just did my #top9 and it warms my cold scientist heart to see that people still discover and like those old clone high clips. It was my love of that show that inspired me to create THE OBSCURE MEDIA ARCHIVES, to ensure no piece of media goes lost in the void forever. We here at the Archives make our 2019 Resolution to provide those who follow with media that will make you say things like “Why do I remember this?” and “Dear god what you done?” And other statements mixed with confusion and delight and sometimes disgust and more confusion.

Wayward Scientist reviews Eerie, Indiana

Eerie Indiana: psychological horror for kids at its absolute finest.

This show sinking into obscurity over things like Goose Bumps and Are You Afraid Of The Dark? is pretty sad on the grounds that- this show is ACTUALLY good.

I mean I remember being creeped out by goosebumps and AYAOTD on a couple of occasions but 90% of the time they were preeetty very very bad. Like not scary with bad acting even by 90s Canadian horror for children standards.

Eerie Indiana on the other hand, is a perfect example of making something for kids that doesn’t treat them like idiots. The stories are either original and clever or homages to old twilight zone episodes (like most things).

The acting is like, still hokey 90s Canadian horror children acting, but it’s definitely not the worst and this show even has some rather heavy handed moments about child abuse and depression that are portrayed and performed genuinely and believably.

Kind of a huge feat for a kids show from this era to be wacky, REALLY creepy at times and still manage to have moments of emotion that a kid could actually connect to from time to time.

Plus it still holds up to day, it’s a little dated but it definitely remains entertaining and even still a little creepy.
