The door did not fit quite right in it's warped and time-worn frame, and when the wind blew, an icy cold crept in through the hidden spaces where old wood failed to meet older particle board.

Dash X drew closer to the scavenged space heater, whose single working bar glowed a bright and brave shade of orange as it struggled to dispel the chill. Behind it, an extension cord snaked across dusty floorboards, trailing up rotten stairs until it reached a broken window pane.

The glowing green mould growing outside crackled and pulsed with electricity as it climbed the walls.

According to the rumour mill, which occupied the same stretch of road as Grungy Bill's old home but had been kept in much better condition, something had been dredged up by the summer storms.

The rumours differed on what exactly that something was, only that it was strange, possibly dangerous, and absolutely and definitively a something.

Oh, and it was in one of the rock pools.

Marshall stood in front of the "Summertime Fun!" display beside the World o' Stuff's cash register, pondering which size shrimp net to get. How big was a "something", anyway?

People acting like Gravity Falls only started going dark in the second season. Did you watch the last half of the first season? Or the shorts? Bill Cipher was a legit demon -addressed as such in the show, might I add-, why didn’t you draw the line there? (Was it because he’s a cute pyramid? I bet it was.) Have you just not been paying attention all this time? Seriously, GF has always been dark. Stop acting so surprised about it now.

Personally, I love the direction the show’s headed. It reminds me of the kids’ show I grew up on - Eerie, Indiana. And let’s not forget that show ended with the main character narrowly avoiding being shot to death. It had a whole episode that revolved around a gun, and another about demonic messages in rock music. The entire town once sold their souls to the devil for shopping credits at the mall (in their sleep, due to subliminal advertising no less). So don’t talk to me about adult themes in kids shows. I grew up in the early and mid 90s, when kids’ shows didn’t kid around.

Dash X, played by Jason Marsden, is a character shrouded in mystery. First introduced in the episode "The Hole in the Head Gang", Dash claims that he woke up in "Weirdsville" without any knowledge to how he got there. Dash has no memory of parents, hometown, past or his real name. Since Dash has no home, he is forced to live on the streets and eat out of Dumpsters. Dash is commonly referred to as "The Kid with the Grey Hair". People would later go on to call him the "Sneaky Kid with the Hair" and "The Kid with No Name". On some occasions, Dash would help Marshall and Simon solve some of Eerie's mysteries, most notably by helping them infiltrate the Loyal Order of Corn cult. Dash X gave himself his name in the episode "The Loyal Order of the Corn", as a reference to the mysterious '-' and '+' markings on his hands which were shared by the extraterrestrial leader of the cult. Dash X may believe that the cult leader, played by Ray Walston may be his father, but he returns to his homeworld without revealing whether or not he is..
