I won a thing! Now help me choose a thing...

So I recently won the big prize in an online raffle where one of the gifts includes a "small digital commission" from the artist running it. Putting small in quotes because when you see the examples, it must mean small in size not in complexity or awesomeness.

The raffle was part of a promotion for the creation of some tiny cute pin versions of the kaiju from the first Pacific Rim, but the creator has said that my commission doesn't necessarily have to be kaiju-based.

So now I'm like... wow. What do I ask for here? And I was thinking it might be cool to get something Eerie based, but more based on the fanon stuff than the human characters. Like maybe Poplio, popcorn god of the Eerie Multiplex, or Sparky and the manticore facing off against each other or something.

What do you guys think? Is there a particular piece of Eerie fanart you've always wanted to see committed to paper? I'm just kind of... gathering some ideas here.

In de dagelijkse rubriek DM ZAPT zet de redactie de blik op oneindig. Vandaag: Sasha Van der Speeten over Lemony Snickets A Series Of Unfortunate Events.

Daar zitten we dan, mijn dochtertje en ik, knus tegen elkaar in de sofa. Haar squishy in haar ene hand (tja, probeer maar eens te ontsnappen aan die rothypes), twee koppen thee op het bijzettafeltje. Totaal verzwolgen door het wonderlijke, macabere universum van Lemony Snicket. Bij elke ingenieuze, al dan niet van de pot gerukte plottwist gaan we allebei door het lint. De ene “wooow!” volgt de andere “nééééh!” op. We kijken elkaar ontzet aan of grinniken bij de onnozele plannetjes van de duivelse Graaf Olaf (superbe gespeeld door Neil Patrick Harris). ‘t Is een van onze favoriete tv-series, die A Series Of Unfortunate Events, de Netflix-reeks die losjes is gebaseerd op de kinderromans van de Amerikaanse schrijver Daniel Handler.

Uit mijn eigen kindertijd herinner ik me tv-shows die me aantrokken als een magneet maar die mij ook lichtjes angst inboezemden. Het gros van de woensdagnamiddag- en zondagochtendprogramma’s op de VPRO. Jim Hensons The Storyteller. Of creepy spul als Eerie, Indiana.
