The weather may still be a little bleak but fear not, we’ve got an April shower of bands to drench you with until the good weather arrives.

Kicking back and dreaming of the heady summer days of last year, it gets us in the zone and makes working hard to cherry pick the finest of fine bands for this years festival a breeze. Ok, maybe that’s enough of the weather analogies.

Either way, whatever the climate. We don’t rest on our laurels, we’ve picked the finest of the finest bands for this years festival. Last week we brought you Emily Barker, Coco and the Butterfields and the Rob Lear Band. This week we’ve got some more great acts to present:

MonsterSquad on Eerie Indiana Episode 8: Dead Letter

Episode 08 : Dead Letter / La Lettre

Dans Dead Letter, Marshall réveille le fantôme d’un jeune garçon en lisant une vieille lettre trouvée au fin fond d’une bibliothèque poussiéreuse. À l’image du précédent, cet épisode est loin d’être le plus fun de la série. Pour cause, il y est encore une fois question de mort et d’amour.

Notre détective de l’étrange doit ici jouer au facteur et réunir un couple déchiré par la mort et le temps. Assez adulte dans sa thématique, l’épisode joue la carte du fantastique dans sa forme. Ainsi, l’ectoplasme tristounet (et un peu relou aussi, avouons-le) interprété par le jeune Tobey Maguire apparaît soudainement à plusieurs reprises au-dessus d’une étagère, dans le reflet d’une glace ou dans le fond d’une assiette pour rappeler à Marshall qu’il a une tâche à accomplir. Creepy…

L’épisode est également marqué par d’autres bizarreries visuelles complètement symptomatiques de la série. On a par exemple cet étrange passage lors duquel Marshall et Simon se disputent avec une mamie filmée en contre-plongée qui commence à casser des statues en porcelaine dans sa chambre en hurlant à la mort. Mais le passage le plus dingue de ces vingt-cinq minutes reste la scène dans laquelle le fantôme parvient à pénétrer dans le rêve tordu du jeune Teller.

On y voit une gamine y faire de la balançoire en mode Fragonard, le reste de la famille y faire du tandem dans un ciel évoquant l’univers de Méliès ou encore le petit Simon y fumer des énormes cigares dans un costard blanc comme la neige. Tout cela est bien évidemment enveloppé de fumée au sol et de lumières colorées, bref tout ce qu’il faut pour en faire une scène qui fonctionne vraiment bien ! En conclusion l’histoire est relativement simple et l’univers graphique plutôt maîtrisé avec en bonus quelques fulgurances mais le plus gros intérêt de ce segment vient bien de sa morale qui invite à éviter les regrets amoureux… Mais pas que ! Une morale solide quoi et pas si con qu’il n’y paraît… C’est aussi ça Eerie Indiana !
