The creator basically said "What if we took Twin Peaks and The Simpsons, put them in a blender, and made it a kids show?"

Josh Weinstein, a major part of early Simpsons, is a writer on the show, too.

Now I get it. I've spotted at least one joke that was actually just a repurposed Simpsons joke so far; I'm sure there are more.
