this ep has some interesting ideas, but it is not a favourite of mine. This all comes from a place of love. TOD is MY BABY.
The pacing - weirdly slow for an eerie episode. We need to get to the flashback sequence way sooner.
The POINT - I think there also needed to be a more clear line drawn between Mitchell and Agnes, especially since the episode begins with Mitchell not being believed by his family then Agnes being 'swept' into the BS because no one in Eerie believed her. There's almost the start of something really interesting here that is just...not explored. Especially with Mitchell being a 'minor deviation of little consequence' which, btw that line was part of the inspiration for my bird/key serious. I love it's delicious implications.
The BS itself...Kind of interesting that it seemingly recruits from people who have seen the truth about Eerie and been disillusioned.
In other thoughts.
Lots of interesting stuff going on with Stanley in this episode. Which is NOT something you get to say very often. I think that TOD is more like The Mitchell Show, while Eerie '92 is for sure a show about Marshall AND Simon. I will talk more about this in Last Laugh and Lucky. Anyway. Stanley not having a father was a through line in this episode. Interesting commentary on how families 'SHOULD' be one way, and any other way is not acceptable. Feels somewhat poignant now with the general state of things.
Obsessed with the implication that polyamory is not weird, and even encouraged with Carrie and her three boyfriends. get them queen.
