Eerie, Indiana fanfiction: Surprise

Written for Day 17 of the 31_days challenge. The prompt was, "Wrap your head around"


"Mars!" Simon flung open the door to Marshall's bedroom. "You gotta come quick, you won't believe- oh. Oh God! Oh, sorry!" He backed out, fumbling the door closed behind him and ran down the stairs. Marilyn and Edgar watched him go from their vantage point on the living room sofa.

"Bye, Simon!" Marilyn called to his retreating back. A fading "Bye, Mrs. Teller!" drifted back across the lawn.

A few minutes later, they heard Marshall's door open and footsteps on the upstairs landing.

"Is he gone?" Mars called down.

"Yes," his parents chorused back.

Mars walked carefully down the stairs, balancing a box more than half his size, inexpertly wrapped in bright paper and trailing coils of ribbons that were already coming unfastened.

"You were supposed to keep him out 'til I was done," he said, his tone accusing. "Now it won't be a surprise anymore."

Edgar rose from the sofa and reached out to secure a corner of the wrapping paper that was peeling away from the parcel, pressing it back into place.

"I doubt he'll mind," he said.

"Well, I mind," said Marshall, his face taking on a mulish expression.

"Oh sweetheart," said his mother, looking up at her only begotten son. "I know this is a difficult concept for you to grasp, but Simon's birthday is not actually about you."

its totally true, I love doing the surprise gifts thing n occasionally I have to remember that no, actually it doesnt inconvinence me if that person misses the delivery n has to go collect it, because a cool housewarming present is about their new house, not about me.proving im the best sister. (I am the best sister.tho)

I hate giving clues to someone about what I've bought them, because what if they guess what it is and that will spoil the surprise and my gratification! LOL

this. but couldn't nversely I always ASK for clues or demand to know what it is, because im impatient. then I just ask to have the thing right now, because I guessed and its not a surprise anymore.

I am this for a lot of people in my life. every now n then I forget my brothers are now much bigger than I am and ill try to "wrestle" the secrets out of them. cue a lot of them walking off while I cling to them yelling "submit! submit damn you!" as im dragged along the corridor and theyre like, "get off me you weirdo!"
