I'm posting again ... !

I was just mulling over this in my head. After watching most of the episodes, I noticed that Dash X's character is kind of um. Confusing. Not that this isn't to be expected ... considering. But here's what I mean:

It seems like in most of the episodes he's in he's got a good side. i.e. He saves Marshall from a bunch of sticky situations. In No Brain, No Pain, he actually heed's Marshall's words. And ends up saving the day. His character is built up quite a bit in Loyal Order of Corn, and is rather upset when Ned tells him he can't go with him because the answer to his questions lie in Eerie ... After that, in Zombies in PJs, he's just sort of neutral, he seems to be back to just doing things solely for himself, even if he ends up helping Marshall and Simon out a bit. Afterwards, in Reality Takes a Holiday, he does a complete 180 back to 'evil' and all of a sudden he wants to kill Marshall? Sure he's Dash, and sure Dash would do drastic, unreasonable things, but it seems questionable that he'd kill Marshall after all the times he's helped him.

It just seems like they gave up on the character completely, o_0. It was dissapointing that all the character development meant nothing. I liked Dash's character development. But I guess if the show was going to end, they had to do something with him.

Soo yeah, thoughts?

And I found a petition to get Eerie re-released on DVD. Not too many signatures yet unfortunately:

Right there with you!

At least with Reality Takes a Holiday, it's throw away in terms of Dash because...well, reality took a holiday. It doesn't have a bearing on the whole arc of Dash's character development. I've never been bugged by Dash's vacillation - adds to the enigma. ;)

Well, that's true. Reality did take a holiday. But it seems Dash shouldn'tve acted different because he was still "Dash", he wasn't his real life counterpart, like everyone else. And he seemed to be the one behind the whole thing, too.

But at any rate. I think I'm going to continue to see Dash as the guy he was in the previous episodes regardless of what they did/wouldve done with his character, though. So I guess it doesnt matter. I think I just like talking about him o_0

I think that Eerie *is* about supposedly about to be (fully) released on DVD, if I'm not mistaken.

Well, according to Tvshowsondvd.com, http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1019 (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1019) the release has been postponed indefinately. :\ ... It was already released. Sort of. They pulled it before its release date. People who pre-ordered it got it.

I really, really need to see those episodes again before I can make an educated reply to this post...

...however, I can't resists replying anyway, so - he always seemed pretty amoral to me, capable of doing good or bad on a whim *shrugs*

Gah. They never should've dropped him! Is it just me, or did anyone else kinda lose interest after the first series?

I guess he was pretty amoral to begin with but after he met Simon and Marshall, he seemed to let his conscious start getting in the way of things. Even from the first ep he was in. It's not like he had a whole lot to work with though, considering he doesn't even know his own name :P Like Marshall said "I guess when you're all alone in the world it's hard to care about anyone else but yourself"

But yeah, in all the EPs he was in he was leaning towards good more than bad. Albiet extremely confused in the matter. Being selfish obviously worked. But I think he was starting to figure out that being alone wasnt so great.

Yeah, they shouldnt've dropped him. It was a damn good character. Jason Marsden loved that role, probably because he was able to put everything he had into it because it was such an animated character. The way he does facial expressions is priceless.

And I didn't even watch the second series. o_o

I knoooow. I'm a sucker for a guy with an expressive face. I think that's what Alan Cumming has over me!

Well he did actually act as though he wanted answers/others sometimes. When he asks Ned if he's his father and he tells him it isn't that simple. The look on his face is heartbreaking o_o. And in the others, he's often reluctantly sympathetic. Like when he saves Marshall from the Werewolf. "and don't tell anyone!" ... hah. It seems he always sort of screwed them over, and then came back to get them out of the situations he got them into in the first place ;P

Well pfft. I'm glad I didn't watch the second series then.

No loss missing the second series. I though Marshall and Simon would show up in the first episode, but they just had some fake picture of them on the tv. I wanted to see what they looked like now! The show was terrible. It was obviously done on a tiny budget. I remeber the World of Stuff shrunk into this tiny place for the 2nd series. It was so crappy and dissapointing.
