Pete is stuck with his weird grandparents for a whole week. To make matters worse, they live next door to a creepy old graveyard. After going in the graveyard alone one night, Pete finds himself face-to-face with a living skeleton, Benny “Bones” Barton.

The only way for Pete to leave the graveyard is to win Benny’s game, a scavenger hunt. Worse yet, if Benny wins, the dead get to come back to the living world. And Benny is a trickster and a cheater.

The hunt for a great kid horror book is over!

When youngster, Pete Davidson, is dropped off at his grandparents’ home in the country, he has no idea he’ll be participating in a contest with the very fate of the world hanging in the balance.

Pete’s grandfather, Orville, warns him to stay away from the graveyard next door, but boys will be boys, and soon Pete finds himself challenged to a scavenger hunt by Benny “Bones” Barton, a reanimated skeleton who claws his way out of the grave. Along the way, Pete must overcome the ravaged terrain of the ancient cemetery as well as the monsters that dwell within its rusted gates— monsters that include an enormous, hideously deformed ghoul!

Author, Brian Barnett, has created a thoroughly entertaining and enthralling childhood adventure. If you’re a fan of the Goosebumps or Eerie, Indiana series, than you’ll especially love this story. The horror and suspense aspect is mild enough for young readers, but also satisfying for adults. The characters are unique and the dialogue is crisp and exciting. You’ll find yourself reading at a breakneck speed to its final, shocking moments. I can’t wait for Mr. Barnett’s next book.

While Gremlins director Joe Dante has absolutely nothing to do with the next film, he does know why Warner Bros. Pictures and writer/producer Chris Columbus are having such a hard time getting it into production.

“I probably have less information to give you than anybody because I am not involved with it, I don’t control the material, it’s reverted back to Chris Columbus who wrote the script for the first movie,” Dante tells Forbes. “They have plans to do something but what Chris wants to do may not be what Warner wants to do and it’s not just Warner it’s also a lot of other people like Amblin and Steven Spielberg – everyone has to agree on what they want to do and at this point nobody is going to figure that out.”

What Dante is saying is that there are too many cooks in the kitchen, all who probably shouldn’t be fed after midnight. This is a huge red flag. Too many opinions and ideas injected into one project could result in a disaster. Even worse is that this is all taking place before they assign a director, who is likely going to have to deal with all of the aforementioned egos. Yikes.

As for whether it will be a sequel, Dante actually thinks it could be a prequel, although he made sure to note he has no real insight into the ongoing development.

“I think the reuniting of the cast is highly unlikely,” he added. “Perhaps a Gremlins prequel might be something they will do but I don’t know as I was not asked to be involved.”

What would you guys like out of a new Gremlins? A remake, sequel, prequel, or something else entirely?

Twenty four years later, the Sanderson Sisters may soon be coming back.

John Carpenter’s Halloween. Trick ‘r Treat. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. There are some movies that you just *have* to watch every October, and 1993’s Hocus Pocus is most definitely one of them. Rumors of a sequel to the Mick Garris-penned film have been circulating around the net for quite some time now, and Garris himself just addressed them with what sure sounds like an update on the status of that project.

Speaking with Forbes, Garris teased that Hocus Pocus 2 is in development!

“Generation after generation, it’s kind of remarkable and fantastic to have something brought to the screen like that and to have it embraced generation after generation,” Garris told the site. “Everybody I meet, it’s either their daughters or their own favorite movie and it’s incredibly exciting. There have been rumors of a Hocus Pocus sequel for the last 10 years that will not die. I have heard they are developing the script, I haven’t been involved in it but I think there will be a sequel it might be for Disney Channel or Freeform or ABC. I think it will be for television but I hear that it is moving ahead.”

The site then asked if the original cast would be returning.

“I think they are, yeah, I think they are,” Garris replied. “If they don’t do that I think it would be a big mistake because all three of them are still so incredibly potent and powerful and great performers and who else can recreate those characters?”

You may remember that back in 2014, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all expressed interest in returning to reprise their roles from the 1993 film.

Could it finally be happening?!

So, we already had the Very Important Conversation about which Pokemon GO team the various inhabitants of Eerie would belong to, but here's a way more important one to ponder: if the people of Eerie were members of the Digidestined, what crests would they hold and why?

(a brief guide to the various crests and their attributes is available here on the Digimon Wiki)

I think Janet would definitely hold Friendship, while Melanie has Courage, both pre- and post-transplant. Syndi's crest is the crest of Sincerity, and Simon holds Reliability or Kindness, or both. Sara Sue is Hope, Marilyn is Love. Marshall holds Curiosity/Knowledge, and I think he's probably also the rightful owner of the Digimental of Destiny.

What say you, Eerie fans? Who is Eerie's Child of Light? Of Miracles? Are there multiple generations of Digidestined living in town? Are any of the the crests corrupted, or subverted, or lost forever? Who wears the goggles? What do their partners look like? Do the Dark Masters steer clear of Eerie for fear of Harley Holmes turning his black eyes upon them? Is Dashimon a great name for a mega-level Digimon (yes) and is he Royal Knight (yes) and could he take out Jesmon, Alphamon and Omnimon if he felt like it (probably, but he doesn't want to right this minute)?
