Eerie, Indiana (90s) - huge influence

American Gothic (90s) - this is largely forgotten but was like Northern Exposure meets X-Files with a sweet tea aesthetic. That guy from Tokyo Drift was in this as a Cletus kid, he was great

Dark Season (90s) - Kate Winslet was star. This show really reminded me of Stranger Things S3, and I bet they ripped it off. Oddly ahead of its time with the Uncle Ted paranoia

X-Files - the biggest problem with Stranger Things besides that it sucks and is Joo'd is that it sticks to mytharc rather than Monster of Week detours

Dead at 21 (90s) - super forgotten MTV thriller conspiracy show that was good. Main actor looked like Beck or some shit lmao

Sliders - sorta grown up Stranger Things time surfing through the trash tv 90s aesthetic

Baywatch Nights - what a loss of potential. Tits and monsters and conspiracies in a beach setting. Forget why this was cancelled.

REMEMBERING O’GRADY, BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE CAN

Disney Channel's new animated series Gravity Falls introduces us to a bizarre town where instead of freaking out about pimples on date night, teens worry about their dates suddenly turning into cats. Twins Dipper and Mabel Pines get shipped off to live with their Uncle Stan for the summer in (wonderfully named) Gravity Falls, Oregon, where zombies, ghosts, and chainsaw-wielding beavers run amuck.

Seeing the new trailers Gravity Falls makes me miss The N's mid-'00s animated series O'Grady, my generation's answer to Eerie, Indiana. Like those shows, O'Grady takes place in the titular town where, in the simplest terms, weird things happen. In the world of O'Grady, these things can be summed up in one term: "The Weirdness."

Clearly Dash would be king of Slytherin; and Simon's a natural for Hufflepuff; but what about Mars? Ravenclaw? My problem with the HP series itself was always that there didn't seem to be much actual unity of houses; so I'd love to see some friendships of the kids in Eerie, wherever they were placed. (Melanie/Janet interhouse Gryffindor/Slytherin pairing? Andrea/Mary C Carter in the Ravenclaw library? Go nuts!)
