Gremlins Returning To Theaters In 4DX This Holiday Season

Joe Dante’s 1994 classic Gremlins has always been one of the my favorite Christmas movies. The film is energetic, weird and has a jet black sense of humor, best displayed in Phoebe Cates’ hilarious monologue about why Santa didn’t deliver any presents one Christmas. And now, audiences are going to get to enjoy Gremlins once again on the big screen, and it’ll look better than it ever has before.

Regal has just announced that the movie will be screened from December 5th – December 11th in 4DX. That’s their ‘ultimate experience’ that involves hydraulic chairs and you getting fans, water and haze sprayed on while you watch the movie. It’s kinda silly, but fits a goofy pic like Gremlins perfectly. The film itself has just been remastered for 4K Ultra HD for a home release, too, so I’m presuming that this pristine new copy will look fantastic on the big screen.

But this re-release is probably just to re-familiarize audiences with the franchise, as 2020 will see the premiere of WarnerMedia’s Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. The ten-episode animated series will fill in the blanks of Gizmo’s story and be set in 1920s Shanghai, showing us how the loveable yet potentially dangerous fluffball wound up being taken care of by a young Sam Wing.

The official show description reads as so:

“Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.”

I’m glad that Gremlins is emerging from franchise stasis after so long, but I can’t help but feel that WarnerMedia are even happier they’re going to have something they can sell to the increasingly lucrative Chinese market. The show will premiere on HBO Max, probably during summer 2019. Let’s just hope it does well and ignites interest in a potential Gremlins 3.

Netflix Greenlights Zombie Drama ‘Black Summer’ for Season Two

Netflix is moving forward on a second season of zombie drama “Black Summer,” with an order for eight new episodes. Spun-off from “Z Nation,” “Black Summer” stars Jaime King (who will also be a producer on season two) as Rose, a mother who is separated from her daughter during the early days of a zombie uprising. Rose will stop at nothing to find her, joining a small group of refugees and braving a hostile new world in her quest.

Returning castmembers for season two include Justin Chu Cary and Christine Lee. Additional castmembers will be announced later.

“Black Summer,” a Netflix Studio Production, is created and executive produced by “Z Nation” co-creator/executive producer Karl Schaefer and co-executive producer John Hyams. In addition to Hyams and Schaefer, Abram Cox, also from “Z Nation,” also is a writer/exec producer on the show.

Sarah Jessica Parker on 'Hocus Pocus' sequel

Despite the fact that it's been talked about and rumoured for years, it only looks like Disney+ have managed to put 'Hocus Pocus 2' into action.
The long-awaited sequel was officially confirmed by the Mouse House a couple of weeks ago, and while the initial announcement made no mention of the original cast - that's Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker - everyone assumed they'd get a look in.

After all, it's the Sanderson Sisters and you can't have a 'Hocus Pocus' sequel without them. Anyway, it now looks like Disney have approached all three, according to Sarah Jessica Parker. In an Instagram post, Parker confirmed to a commenter's question that all three of the original cast "said yes" and that they're now "awaiting further instructions" as to what happens next.

Despite it now being a cultural phenomenon, inspiring parodies and costumes, 'Hocus Pocus' was a flop when it initially was released. That, of course, might have had something to do with the fact it was released in the summer.

So far, no release date has been announced and no casting has been confirmed so it's still all up in the air whether or not the Sanderson Sisters will reunite.

The Weekenders comes to Disney+

We are so excited because Disney+ has confirmed even more content will soon be added to their library.

Disney’s new streaming service has been a success thus far, and people have been blowing up social media with everything they have been binging. Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck were two of the biggest trending Disney Original Shows on Twitter.

Many of you may remember this animated series, which aired in the early 2000s. The Weekenders follower a group of four school friends who would go out on adventures on the weekend.

Jason Marsden, one of the stars from the series, tweeted to Disney+ Help to find out why The Weekenders was not included in the content of library.

Luckily for all The Weekenders fans out there, they replied with some amazing news!

The Weekenders ran for 77 episodes over four seasons and aired from 2000-2004. Disney+ has confirmed that 39 episodes will be available, which means this is just two of the four seasons. Hopefully there will be another addition later on to include all four seasons.
