"Marshall is 13 years old, a sweet innocent-looking kid, bright and shy..."

Aww!

I'm so sad the kindergartner with the skull never made it to screen. And that we never found out more about all those pieces of evidence listed at the end...

Yeah, he never came across as particularly shy, and even did make quite a few friends. He just lost them at an alarming rate...

I'm also not sure about sweet or innocent. "Sweet" I tend to associate more with Simon. There is quite a bit of innocence in those early episodes where he still thinks if he can get the evidence to the right authorities, somebody will Do Something.

Yes! Which is totally a legit interpretation of the show through several episodes!

Some day, I should do evil, mass murdering Mars fic.

After I finish the "After Nightfall" 'verse storyline.

And possibly the very wrong Dash/Mars mind control one I was inspired to revisit this morning.

There will definitely be more After Nightfall.

And maybe I'll do malevolent!Marshall after that, because oh, does he need all the fic.

The problem is, I think the wronger it gets, the slower I tend to write...

Another thing I noticed: Edgar is a "quasi scientist" in this draft, and not a full scientist?

I was re-reading the scripts a while back, and realized that they do never say what Edgar's highest degree is.

He's "Mr. Teller" instead of "Dr. Teller" in Marshall's Theory... and it's possible he stopped after finishing "Matter: What Is It Exactly" as his master's thesis.

But he is also very much a scientist there, which makes me wonder if they did have a different career path in mind in this draft.

True. I just realized with a master's in engineering from MIT, he would have the same academic credential as Howard in The Big Bang Theory.

I'm just not sure if you'd refer to an engineer as a quasi scientist, though. Unless you were really, really trying to annoy one, which maybe Marshall is...
