"Come on!" said the blue and yellow helicopter with the rictus grin on it's pudgy humanoid face. "Hop in, and let's take to the sky!"

Marshall ignored it, allowing the heavy plate-glass door to swing closed behind him. The lights of the various games and rides twinkled and pulsed and beeped at him, and the refrigerated snack cabinet hummed softly to itself.

"Hello?" he called out, and his voice sounded strange and unnatural amid the mechanical noise of the deserted arcade.

"Insert coin to start!" flashed a dozen screens, and behind the text a hundred screaming faces shouted silent warnings.
