The Eerie Art Gallery, Performance Space and Municipal Disposal Site swarmed with men in blue boiler suits and mirrored shades. A sign over the heavy steel door informed passers-by that they were closed for business, and the high glass windows that ran the full length of the building were clouded with condensation. Behind the obscuring white fog, tall wooden boards could be seen pressed against the glass.

“Must be some kind of protest piece,” said Syndi.

“Probably against Chisel’s latest round of cover-ups,” Marshall agreed.

“Well, he can’t suppress the will of the people forever!” said Syndi, scribbling furiously in her reporter’s notebook. “This time, I’m going to expose him for sure.”

Marshall nodded furiously.

“Parking regulations are for everyone,” said Syndi. “If I have to learn parallel parking just to get my license, he can’t go ditching his Cadillac on Main Street every time he pops into World o’ Stuff for a sandwich.”

“Wait,” said Marshall. “So, this isn’t about the UFOs hovering over the drive-in last weekend?”

Syndi rolled her eyes.

“That was part of the light show, Marshall,” she said, sighing heavily.

Marshall looked at his sister. He looked at the closed gallery. He scowled.

“They’re just changing the paintings,” he snapped, and walked away
