As today is Audrey Hepburn' birthday:
Holly Golightly, sixty feet high and dripping with diamonds, extended one exquisitely manicured hand and stabbed a long-handled cigarette holder into Godzilla’s eyes. The giant lizard screeched and thrashed but was unable to free himself as the silver-screen idol bore down upon him, her expression unreadable behind her iconic black sunglasses.
Parked cars crumbled and bent beneath the rampaging titans and the patrons of Eerie’s first-ever drive-in film festival screamed and fled in all directions in horror at the celluloid carnage being wrecked above them.
“Huh,” said Marshall, fending off a proffered bag of eldritch popcorn with one practiced swing of a pitchfork. “This is so worth the $5 entrance fee and temporary membership in the unholy church of a popcorn God of the multiplex.”
Simon wiped his stinging eyes. The snack shack had caught fire when Audrey Hepburn’s stiletto heel pierced the gas cylinders round the back, but the smoke wasn’t the only thing making his eyes water. “Godzilla at Tiffany’s: the Musical” had been almost entirely scored by the Carpenters and he had barely made it through the first act before the tears fell.
“Do we have to leave already?” he sniffled. “I really want to see if the opera-singing scientist and the giant undersea crab monster can make it work in the sequel.”
“We can come back for the Saturday matinee,” promised Marshall. “Right now it’s too dangerous for a couple of casual cinephiles like you and me.”
The was an intake of outraged breath from the flatbed of a nearby pickup and Syndi sat up, her period-appropriate up-do mussed and tangled.
"Marshall Teller!" she gasped. "You had better watch your mouth!"
