Random WIP Line

Dash was obnoxious, greedy, and an all-around terrible person at times—Marshall had admitted as much to Melanie during his humiliating almost-breakdown in the bathroom earlier—and there was too much history between them to have ever believed even a semi-relationship would have worked, but Dash had at least always understood Marshall's mission.

Yeah, this is not exactly the happiest part of the fic. Trying the random number generator again, to see if it'll give me a more cheerful line:

"Don't worry, we'll get home," he murmured into her hair, not even minding the hairspray.

Er, maybe that was better? Let me try again:

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out what turned out to be the remains of his camera.

Okay, that was a spoiler. There is minor equipment death in this fic.

The first one was at least hopeful, though probably sticky and astringent smelling. Dead camera spoiler is just cruel tho.

I guess if you assume the person speaking in the first one is actually right...

I'm probably not even tagging for camera death on AO3, either! It'll just be one of those things under "creator chose not to warn."

Well, I mean, in the first one there's a chance they may get home. In the second, the unwarned for and horrifying camera death is a done deal.

“Mars, I love you -” Janet began, moving on the couch so that her head was more comfortably resting on his shoulder.
“Well I would like to hope so or things would be very awkward around here.” Marshall replied, not taking his eyes off the TV.
“As I was saying. Mars, I love you, and I know this investigation is important to you, but the infomercial channel isn’t going anywhere, and they’re playing a movie marathon on channel two. If we change now, we can catch the ending of The Goonies."
