let's finish today's post with something... eerie. "Eerie, Indiana", to be precise. A mystery-show aimed at children that ran back in 1991. The internet got me sold on this by calling it "Twin Peaks for kids" (or sometimes also "X-Files for kids", but that wouldn't have made me go for it, to be honest) and it's... not that. It's more like... "Goosebumps" with continuity? "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" but every episode centers around the same people? That's a kind of fitting description, I'd say. Because of this, the show is lacking the macabre endings that made many stories in those aforementioned shows so memorable, but it's safe to say that it some of the episodes have a definitive edge to them. Like... the episode "Heart On A Chain" is just friggin' dark. Plus it has Danielle Harris guest-starring. Another episode features Tobey Maguire, there's one with Tony Jay, one with Matt Frewer, one with Dick Miller, one with Vincent Schiavelli, one with Stephen Root... this is a pretty great cast if you asked me. The stories themselves? Yeah, they are alright. Pretty inventive but because the format demands it they often end rather anticlimactic. And... yeah, despite its edge, it's mainly aimed at kids. So if you saw it when you were young, you'll probably get a huge kick out of it, because even without wearing nostalgia-tinted glasses, I can tell you that there's some good stuff to be found here. But for someone who watches this for the first time at the tender age of 34? Hm... sadly not better than "pretty good".
