An early-90s shortly-lived series that was aimed at older kids and teens, Eerie, Indiana took place in a small town with a population of 16,661. With the number of the beast in there, it is clear that there is a reference to something sinister afoot.

The series featured the typical traits of a small town but where something felt ominous, with every episode containing a new mystery, along with continuing storylines through the seasons. Weird happenings such as paranormal activities, urban legends, and creepy beings lurked throughout the town, and it also referenced old monster movie tropes. The show was not without a sense of humor and also broke the fourth wall on occasion. It even had several episodes directed by Joe Dante of Gremlins fame.

Eerie, Indiana was a short-lived series about a young kid, Marshall, who moves to the small town of Eerie, Indiana where strange occurrences are commonplace. Marshall and his new friend Simon try to capture evidence of the weird and paranormal things that happen in their town.

This show had odd occurrences from trading places with a mummy to murderous garbage collectors to Elvis Presley appearing in the town, which made it an at times funny but always pretty creepy show.

Having directed horror classics like The Howling and Gremlins, Joe Dante took that love of genre and helped usher in a supernatural kids show in Eerie, Indiana.

Watching TV, kids could only wish that their lives were exciting and interesting as that of Marshall Teller's. The show’s young protagonist moved from New Jersey to Eerie, Indiana, a strange small town where the weird is commonplace. Kids were immediately drawn into this strange version of suburbia as Elvis and Bigfoot lurked around in the opening credits. When the series premiered on NBC in 1991, there was nothing else like it on TV. This cleverly written show, made just for kids, didn’t dumb down the horror or science fiction storylines.

Before we had Agents Mulder and Scully, Marshall Teller and his buddy, Simon Holmes, were the best investigators of the strange and unexplained. The series developed a cult following with fun and creepy episodes like “Foreverware”, “The Retainer”, and “The Hole in the Head Gang.” The series only lasted one season but in 1998 Fox Kids reimagined it into Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension, though this new version never reached the popularity of the original.

In recent years no other series (animated or live-action) has proudly carried the torch of “creepy” kids' show like Gravity Falls. Similar to the way Eerie, Indiana introduced us to a mysterious fictional small town, The Disney Channel’s Gravity Falls took us to the animated town of Gravity Falls, Oregon where the supernatural lives. The series follows 12-year old twins, Dipper and Mabel Pines, who are sent to live with their uncle Stan Pines in the town of Gravity Falls. A hit with critics and kids alike, this cartoon is loaded with paranormal characters and nightmare images.

For those not old enough to read a Stephen King novel or watch an R-rated movie, this cartoon is an amazing gateway to discovering horror themed content. Light on scares but big on creeps, the show is known for its horror movie references like The Thing, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and some J-Horror films. Even though the series just wrapped up this past February, if you come across a marathon showing this Halloween season, just stay home and enjoy this pop culture hit.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Brings Back 90s Show’s Aunt Hilda & Zelda

The concept of being trapped in TV-like confines has become a common fantasy trope, however. Previously utilized on Supernatural and such cult classics as Eerie, Indiana, it will also be a central conceit to the upcoming WandaVision. It'll be interesting to see just how far the show goes with the concept and how much Sabrina gets to interact with Rhea and Broderick — who remain as comedically impeccable as ever. The fact that the showrunners were okay with revealing this early could mean that bigger twists are lurking behind it. Hart herself could either show up. Even stranger, Shipka's version of Sabrina could be magically at risk of turning into her. Arguably even more exciting, it could also mean that a talking Salem might share some pearls of wisdom — either a similar reprise from the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch or otherwise. Fans will surely have their fingers crossed but will have to wait and see.

4: Eerie, Indiana ran only for one season but is still remembered by fans. Its premise began with teenager Marshall (Omri Katz) having recently moved to Eerie, Indiana with his family. He quickly realized the town was populated by weirdos — with a few exceptions including his eventual best friend Simon Holmes — and was a hot spot for paranormal activity and peculiar occurrences. While having its own mythos, the show touched upon classic Urban legends such as Bigfoot and a still-living Elvis Presley. A sequel series called Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension aired in 1998.

Combining horror and science fiction, this NBC sitcom only aired for one season, but it's status as a cult classic keeps it relevant to this day. On par with Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Eerie, Indiana tells the story of Marshall Teller, who moves the eponymous town with his family.

Eerie is full of creepy characters, unexplained phenomena, and urban legends brought to life. Marshall, the outsider, continually finds himself in the middle of these strange occurrences, and he does his best to make sense of them.

9: Big Wolf on Campus

Yet another reimagining of Teen Wolf, Big Wolf on Campus is a Canadian take that integrates elements from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Tommy Dawkins is a high school senior and popular athlete who is bitten by a werewolf on a camping trip.

Tommy's idyllic life is turned upside down, and he soon realizes his town, Pleasantville, is overrun by supernatural beasts and villains. He uses his lycanthropy to protect his home from these malevolent forces.

There are a lot of TV shows that stay on the air for years and years. These shows get multiple seasons and are airing for a long time, giving the show plenty of time to flesh out the characters, explore a wide variety of storylines, and gain quite a following. Here's where you may recognize Seven co-star and veteran character actor Leland Orser. Leland Orser began his career in the early 1990s, making appearances in the likes of TV shows The Golden Girls, Eerie, Indiana and Cheers. He later made his movie debut with forgotten thriller Cover Story but it was his role in 1995's Seven that got him noticed. His traumatized victim is one of the most disturbing scenes in the movie and Orser was eeriely convincing in his role. Other supporting roles followed, notably in John Carpenter's Escape From L.A., Independence Day and NYPD Blue.

But something worth paying attention to as well is Apple TV+'s inclusion of some youth-oriented programming. Coming soon is a Ghostwriter reboot and a new Charlie Brown series called Snoopy in Space. Now, if Apple TV+ is looking to benefit from the demand for nostalgic revivals, then they should look to reboot these ten other classic shows for kids.

In the series, a teenage boy is turned into a werewolf. As he deals with his furry new life, he and his pals fight things that go bump in the night. Not the most novel idea as it follows a similar path as the seminal teen horror show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But Big Wolf was goofy, low-budget entertainment with a cheeky sense of humor to boot.

At the risk of sounding like a hipster, only 90's kids will probably remember the American television series Eerie, Indiana. The series has a resurgence on the internet briefly in the early 2010s, with many adults reminiscing on how unsettling the series was, without being able to place exactly why.

The nineteen episode show followed Marshall Teller, a teen who moves to the ghostly town of Eerie, Indiana. Throughout the show, Marshall and his only somewhat normal friend Simon encounter many strange scenarios.

Such creep-tastic themes in the show include urban legends, evil dogs, doppelgangers, and a whole lot of self-aware meta action. Marshall's dream sequence in "The Dead Letter" is a noteworthy disturbing scene. Eerie, Indiana is yet another children's series that feels more like David Lynch than anything else.

When supernatural occurrences then plague Marshall's life, he and his new friend Simon swoop in to solve the mystery. This short-lived NBC property was unique among its peers because it was self-aware and never shied of being plain weird. Although we already got a sequel series, Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension in 1998, a new and kookier reboot would be keen.
