There are a lot of TV shows that stay on the air for years and years. These shows get multiple seasons and are airing for a long time, giving the show plenty of time to flesh out the characters, explore a wide variety of storylines, and gain quite a following. Some of the longest-running shows ever include The Simpsons, Big Brother, and Supernatural. While these shows have been on a super long time, there are other shows that aren't quite so lucky.

There are some shows that don't air for over a dozen seasons or more and instead, they only get a single season before they're canceled. There are some shows that are only designed to have a single season and end after telling their story, but that's not the case for every show that only has one season. Despite their short-run, shows that got canceled after a single season can often still be worth watching and often have a dedicated fanbase that wishes they could've gotten more episodes. To see 10 shows that were canceled after one season, keep reading!

Eerie, Indiana is a horror-science fiction series that aired from 1991 through 1992 for a single season that consisted of 19 episodes. The series was a children's program, but it is definitely a fun one for anyone who is a fan of other creepy kids' shows because of its unique and spooky atmosphere.

The series follows a teenager named Marshall whose family moves to the small town of Eerie, Indiana. There, he's face-to-face with a huge variety of different bizarre urban legends that seem to have come to life in the most terrifying and surreal way.

There's a whole lot of weird out there in the world these days, and a surprising amount has made its way into mainstream media. Since there’s already a 15 Weirdest Movies Of All Time, a follow-up version of the list for the small screen just had to made. There's quite a lot to go through, as well. Television has produced a lot of completely insane series through the years.

We’re looking for things like overall entertainment value, disturbing scenes, bizarre and enigmatic characters, and interesting plots in TV shows when we went about compiling this list. We’re not looking for strange shows that rely on a ton of gore, but rather shows that use shock and uncanniness to get its weird brand across.

There’s quite a bit of variety on this weird TV show compilation. From goofy comedies with an artistically bizarre flair to downright disturbing storytelling dramas, this list has something for everyone. None of these shows may be fun for the whole family, but they are fun for an uncomfortable night in.

Are you ready for a strange good time? Get weird with The 15 Weirdest TV Shows Of All Time.

7 EERIE, INDIANA

Eerie, Indiana comes off as equal parts a spooky Goosebumps series spinoff and something straight out of a David Lynch film. This NBC childrens show from the early '90s is actually neither, but it is certainly strange enough to deserve a spot on this list.

In Eerie, Indiana, a teen named Marshall moves with his family to the small town of Eerie. Every citizen of the town has something off about them, sans Marshall's new friend Simon. The two face strange and unsettling events that include situations derived from real urban legends and doppelgängers. The show seemed just a little too creepy for its time, especially as a kid's show. What normal childrens series opens with “To whom it may concern: If you’re reading this document, it means I’m either dead or disappeared under mysterious circumstances”?

While Eerie, Indiana may not be terrifyingly bizarre enough to scare the crap out of an adult, watching the series as a child in the '90s was borderline traumatizing.

If you’ve ever ask someone what scared or freaked them out as a child, most responses will revolve around a horror film or terrifying personal experience - like seeing a clown. But if you really think back, many of the times we were disturbed as youngsters happened when we were sitting in front of the TV. Watching some of our favorite kids' shows after school or on weekends, we’d come across imagery or moments that would scar us for life. Those shows that were intended to be silly fun often had the opposite effect, making for a sleepless night.

Children’s television has always been a labyrinth of the strange and twisted, with the 1980s and 1990s in particular having a plethora of programming that entertained and traumatized in turn. Most of these shows we end up loving as adults because of that same dark tone.

In creating this list, we looked at animated and live-action shows specifically made for kids that incorporated supernatural, other-worldly, and bizarre fantasy elements in its plots or characters. No TV specials or movies-of-the-week found here. So without further ado, here’s the 15 Creepiest Kids Shows of All Time.

6: Eerie Indiana

Having directed horror classics like The Howling and Gremlins, Joe Dante took that love of genre and helped usher in a supernatural kids show in Eerie, Indiana.

Watching TV, kids could only wish that their lives were exciting and interesting as that of Marshall Teller's. The show’s young protagonist moved from New Jersey to Eerie, Indiana, a strange small town where the weird is commonplace. Kids were immediately drawn into this strange version of suburbia as Elvis and Bigfoot lurked around in the opening credits. When the series premiered on NBC in 1991, there was nothing else like it on TV. This cleverly written show, made just for kids, didn’t dumb down the horror or science fiction storylines.

Before we had Agents Mulder and Scully, Marshall Teller and his buddy, Simon Holmes, were the best investigators of the strange and unexplained. The series developed a cult following with fun and creepy episodes like “Foreverware”, “The Retainer”, and “The Hole in the Head Gang.” The series only lasted one season but in 1998 Fox Kids reimagined it into Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension, though this new version never reached the popularity of the original.
