Back in the Day: 5 TV Shows You Loved As A Kid
1. The Strange World of Alex Mack. I loved Alex. Like, a lot.
2. Clarissa Explains It All. Clarissa had the coolest outfits and a best friend who'd come visit anytime. I loved the flights of fantasy and really fun design style.
3. The Twilight Zone. I begged my dad every night to let me stay up past eight and watch the reruns. The very first episode I ever saw was "Miniature", when I was 5-7, and I don't think I'll ever forget it.
4. Muppet Babies. The Muppets. As babies. So not seeing the bad here.
5. Eerie, Indiana. I wanted to name my son Marshall after the main character on this show. I still love this show. I just took a six year hiatus from watching it before it came out on DVD.

Ainsley passed through Eerie, Indiana once while driving home from her Yankee law school when she was twenty-three (to this day she is not sure how she made it to Indiana driving from Connecticut to North Carolina), and 9-year-old Simon, sitting in the World of Stuff when she came in looking for a better road map, thought she was the most beautiful person he'd ever seen. Putting on his most grown up voice, he told her that she probably only found her way here because the weirdness of Eerie acted as a sort of magnetic force. Ainsley thought he was an odd kid, but kind of sweet, so she split one of her candy bars (she always carries a few in her purse -- the good chocolate, European) with him and let him show her Main St. before she split.

I may be spending way too much time in my little Eerie, Indiana world here, but it really bugs me that I can't get a solid read on the political leanings of the Teller family. It normally wouldn't bug me, but the show makes so many political comments and I just can't tell where Marshall's dad stands. (Judging by the "Who's president?" "George Bush [Senior]." "Things are worse than I could have imagined!", etc. Imma go out on a limb and say the show's creators are fairly liberal. JUST A HUNCH.)
Mr. Teller jokes about there being no liberals in Eerie, tells Simon he'll explain what a liberal is when Simon's older, and felt betrayed by the Iran-Contra affair. I'm thinking...moderate Republican?
I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS IS BUGGING ME SO MUCH.
I think it's 'cause I just read an essay on it by someone else, but they determine that Eerie is fairly conservative and the show's creators are fairly liberal, and I'm like, "Duh. What about Marshall's daddy? SATISFY MY CURIOUSITY, PERSON WITH NO MORE AUTHORITY ON THE SUBJECT THAN I."
Also, I bought eight of the Eerie books today. Most of them for a cent each. Cost me a fair amount in shipping mind you, but I had a gift card.
This particular fandom obsession of mine? Possibly unhealthy.

God, internet, don't leave me again. I end up making fifty new icons while watching Eerie, Indiana and trying to IMDB the guest stars on my phone.
Not that I don't do those things when you're working. I just do them while also reading slash.
