Written for the 2017
spook_me challenge. The prompt I picked was "scarecrow" and the picture I received for it can be seen here.
This is a sequel to a couple of stories I wrote last Halloween, for
31daysoffandom's prompt, "black", and
31_days' prompt, "Good to Eat". You can read the first one, Chicken, here, and the second one, Good to Eat, here.

Written for the Spook Me challenge. I chose the Grim Reaper and the prompt picture that inspired this is here
The great maw chittered horribly, the moist tendrils that fringed the toothed gullet writhing with anticipation. Lost souls, bleached bone-white in the endless searing light of that place, shuffled forward towards the gaping hole. It whispered to them as they came, blandishments and calumnies, dark fears and horrid truths no man should know.
Mayor Chisel stood on the shattered wooden floor above it, surrounded by Garbagemen in hi-vis jackets and hard hats. The Garbagemen's faces were impassive, for they had no spirit for the Maw to twist and tear.
The Mayor spat into the hole.
"Seal it up," he said.

So, I signed up for the
spook_me challenge this year, and chose shapeshifter as my creature. The two prompt pieces of artwork I received are below:

Unfortunately, I didn't come up with anything for the second picture, but this is what I managed for the first one:
