Week 3 was relatively small. I haven’t posted any new items this week, so it was the same ones from last week riding over again.

I had a few bids throughout the week, but not too many. And none for big money- but still, they were coming.

One of the first things to collect a bid was a DVD box set of Eerie Indiana- remember that show?

I’d had the DVD up for sale for ages as ‘buy it now’ but I bit the bullet, lowered the price and let it go as an auction. Off it went.

With Bubby Dora leading the way, these and other sweetly imperfect ghosts haunt Lilah through seventh grade, and help her face her one big fear: talking to—and possibly going to the seventh-grade dance with—her crush, Andrew Finkel.

I love books featuring ghosts in a more positive, happy light and Small Medium at Large is no exception. Each of the spirits in this story, reminiscent of TV shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Eerie Indiana, are flawed yet lovable in their own way.

I guess I just don't get why people think Night Vale is such and awesome product. The first couple of stories are funny and amusing, but after that it is the same shtick again and again and again. Trigger might be long dead and sitting stuffed in the corner, but that is not stopping these people.

"Worlds" like the X-Files and Eerie, Indiana were far better and often funnier types of adventures than Night Vale. I think part of it is because in those two shows the veneer of normalcy over the mystery gave the mystery more . . . mystery? With Night Vale, it just sits there in plain sight. While it might be straining the metaphor, Night Vale masters the single entendre.

Diabolical Plots TV Review: Eerie Indiana (1991-1992)

Eerie, Indiana was a 19-episode episodic young adult SF/Fantasy show that aired on NBC in the 1991-1992 television season. It was followed in spring 1998 with a 15-episode spinoff Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension on Fox Kids (which I’ll touch on briefly but is not the focus of this review). I watched it recently for free on the Roku Channel which I could access without any streaming subscriptions on my Roku streaming device.
