Dark of the Matinee on the Eerie Indiana movie

Every now and then I like to wander about IndieGoGo and Kickstarter searching for new and interesting projects. Usually I’ll stumble across something that catches my eye. Recently I came across an IndieGoGo campaign for an Eerie, IN movie.

If you listen to the podcast, you know we’re big fans of Eerie, IN here, so of course I had to do some digging. The project is being put together by Michael Subjack, a recent film school graduate. I hit Subjack up to learn more about the project and see if we can help get it off the ground.

Eulach: What’s any good from the last couple of years? We don’t live in England so I miss out on what’s current (Round the Twist and Eerie Indiana are good but they’re a bit dated now). Series or one offs, the children are 7 and 10.

chakaping: My kids are currently loving the Powerpuff Girls on Netflix. New Dangermouse is also pretty decent (not as good as old one, but you can get that on there too).

jjprestidge: My 8 year old daughter loves watching the re-runs of Buffy. I thought they might be a bit scary for her but she really likes them and they are quite brilliantly written.

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc is also a hidden gem – don’t be fooled into think that it’s anything like the originals; there’s even an episode where Scooby plays the role of Nico in a pastiche of The Velvet Underground. Loads of other moments like that which must be way over the heads of the general audience.

If you don't mind watching an old (1990s) live action show, Eerie, Indiana is similar to Gravity Falls in that it's a horror/fantasy comedy about two normal kids investigating weird goings-on in their town: an immortal family, a secret plot by the neighbourhood dogs, a TV remote that can trap you in the television. It's very quirky and funny, but was sadly cancelled after one season. They attempted a reboot with a new cast but it didn't take off.
