This week, your options are:
Bloody Revenge of the Mummy's Curse versus Corn Critters Franchise
Eerie Indiana Drabble: Halloween Special
May. 8th, 2021 01:19 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Shot entirely in black and white, with unsettlingly skewed camera angles and a score comprised mostly of ominous organ riffs and scare chords, and containing at least three visual homages to Boris Von Orloff's "The Bloody Revenge of the Mummy's Curse" within the first twenty minutes alone, he'd actually been enjoying himself until the second act.
"Is that Harley?" he whispered, to Simon, who was dozing beside a bowl of popcorn bigger than his own torso.
Simon blinked, focused, and groaned.
"Not again!"

Tony Jay was so fuckin' great. You'd think he'd be phoning it in for these silly ass kids cartoons but instead he was bringing it. Going full THEATRE every chance he got. the world is a lesser place without him
— It's Dirk! (@DirkGrundy) August 30, 2020
what sort of world would it be without chairface chippendale or uh I guess Frollo in that disney movie (I haven't seen it), or Shere Khan. Or that time he tried to marry Lwuxanna Troi
— It's Dirk! (@DirkGrundy) August 30, 2020
Or how about that time he was a surfing mummy on Eerie Indiana

I don't remember this, I will have to absolutely go find it on hopefully youtube

"It's nothing infernal," Simon hastened to explain. "It's just... you know how Boris Von Orloff got a job on that old radio we brought from the Secret Spot?"
Marshall nodded. While the self-proclaimed star of stage and screen had proved somewhat obnoxious during his impromptu visit to Eerie, it hadn't lessened Marshall's enjoyment of his movies nor, post-resurrection, his voice work.
Simon's gaze flicked to the Hellhound, currently asleep in a slightly-scorched basket made of packing crates.
"I think he's too young for ghost stories," he told Marshall.

Boris was back.

"Rodent problem?" he asked.
Simon nodded. There were dark circles under his eyes and his hand-me-down jumper had even more holes in it than usual.
"Harley and the Ratking turned on each other," he said. "Something about this town only being big enough for one avatar of creeping disease, and also Harley spending too much time with that goat he stole from the Witch Queen last Halloween."
He sighed deeply, a teenage boy wearied by the machinations of Antichrists and vermin lords alike.
"Now the Ratking is threatening to chew the bottom out of every cereal box in Eerie unless Harley grants him a share of this year's soul harvest."
"Oh dear," said Radford. "Good thing I've still got that shipment of experimental coffee cake from Things Incorporated out the back. It's about to be the only breakfast food left in Eerie."
Simon picked up one of the live-capture cages and fiddled absently with it.
"I just need to get to some of the Brainrats," he said. "You know, the bigger, smarter ones that make up the Ratking's mind. If I can talk to them, I can make them see that this isn't something worth fighting over."
"Not to you, maybe," said Radford. "You're Harley's big brother. You've always come first with him, so you don't know what it's like when he chooses something else over you."
He shook out a large paper grocery sack and began bagging the mousetraps.
"You see, the Ratking never saved Harley from eating a lizard. He never took him on exciting adventures where they got to terrify an old man in stage makeup."
"That's not-" Simon began, then stopped.
"If you want my advice," said Radford, "And you didn't ask for it, so you shouldn't feel obligated to take it, but if you want it: forget about the Brainrats. They're big and sleek and they scurry about independently, and that's all well and good when a Ratking schemes his schemes, but for something like this?"
He tapped his index finger to the monogrammed breast pocket of his paisley-patterned shirt and continued.
"Look for the Heartrats. They're smaller, tightly-wound - physically as well as metaphorically - and they don't move around as much."
He passed Simon the bulging brown bag.
"On the house," he added.

Eerie, Indiana Triple Drabble: Breaktime
Feb. 15th, 2020 05:15 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Marshall set two mugs of hot chocolate down on the cluttered desk, careful to use coasters despite the surface being pockmarked with stains, scorch marks and even the occasional gouge.
"Hey," he said. "Remember that old tombstone radio we took out of the Secret Spot a while back? I was in the kitchen and it just started playing a bunch of old-timey ghost stories. Come check it out."
Simon looked up, rubbing tired eyes with ink-stained knuckles. In front of him, a scattering of Polaroid photographs completely failed to tell a story and a handwritten report had long ago degraded into illegibility.
"I can't," he said. "I'm supposed to be looking into UFO activity over the Eerie Cemetery, but everything I can find points to it being just another illegal zombie rave. I need to give this client something by Friday or risk angry phone calls on Monday morning."
"You won't be fit for UFOs or zombie clubbers if you don't take a break occasionally," said Marshall. "You can finish up the cemetery job tomorrow. I'll give you a hand if you like."
He saw Simon's hesitation, sensed his wavering resolve, and decided to go in for the kill.
"I'm pretty sure I heard Boris Von Orloff's voice on there," he said. "You always say you wanted to know how his post-death comeback was going."
"That's true..."
"And we did kinda sorta almost help Harley retroactively wipe out his entire career..."
Simon sighed and stood up.
"I guess..."
Marshall grinned.
"We'll just listen to a couple, to show support," he promised, already opening the office door. "Bring your cocoa."

Third? appearance of the "Better weird than dead" catchphrase. Also, these outfits make me remember how old this show is
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Why can't Harley go trick or treating? I wonder if there's a story there. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Marshall is kind of evil sometimes. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Some day, Dash will find this recording of Marshall being willing to feed a lizard to a small child for profit #eerieindiana

"Harley...about this tall. Same mom as Simon." There's an implication there about Harley's parentage that I didn't pick up on as a kid. #eerieindiana

"Some kind of video feedback time warp zapping thing": I love Marshall-speak #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Apparently, you can order the mummy at the beach shot as a blanket somewhere on the internet. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
It's interesting that at this point Simon and Marshall are still thinking of the evidence locker as something they're going to show authorities someday...hence, destroying evidence that'll get them in trouble. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
There really is a whole story/character arc where Marshall turns toward trusting no one (or at least no adult) over the course of the series. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
We don't get as much of Simon's POV, but he already starts with plenty of good reasons not to trust adults. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Except the Tellers #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Marshall has a certain amount of trust for people his own age. He makes friends relatively easily. (Of course, not all of them survive until the end of the episode, but still. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
But by the end of the series...well, Dash happened. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
It would have been so interesting to see what impact that would have on Marshall for Season 2. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Also, still wish we could have seen Halloween in Eerie outside Marshall's house some year. #eerieindiana
— Citizen D (@TheCitizenD) October 13, 2019
Also there a whole thread here about Marshall and what he worries about in regards to his parents vs. speculation about Simon and Harley's home life that I don't want to make right now because it's just too sad. #eerieindiana
