deifire respectively made me remember fanmixes and Five Things fic in the space of a single day, I decided it would be fun to have a Fandom Tropes challenge once a month, to remind us of all the stuff that used to be super common in fandom that maybe we don't see as much as we'd like to these days.

So many movies and tv shows that helped shaped our weird brains growing up but Eerie, Indiana & Eek! The Cat really worked overtime. Especially the Eerie, Indiana episodes ‘Forever Ware’ & ‘Heart on a Chain’ — and pretty much every insane episode of Eek!

He had brain damage. Big scar. After his dad died his mom had remarried. Step dad was abusive. Giant #hoosier brain damaged guy killed him with an axe. My hometown is known in Indiana as a great place to get away with murder, so he was just walking around free.

Another detail I missed is he killed his abusive stepdad with an ax before he was 18. In retrospect he's something of an antihero.

True Story: my hometown was so easy to get away with murder in that my best friend's dad had been shot in the chest at a gas station by a couple local yokels, and those guys' sons would tease him about getting away with it in high school.

Another fun story from my hometown is the time a college student's exsanguinated (his blood was removed) corpse was run into by a farmer's plow and it was linked to a local weather man and one of the morticians but no one was ever charged

Dunno if there's a thread to discuss the various childrens horror shows over the years but yeah. Shows like Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Eerie Indiana, more recent things like the Haunting Hour...

Grew up in the early 1990's watching both Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? on Fox and Nick, along with both versions of Eerie, Indiana on Disney as well as The Haunting Hour when it aired on The Hub now in the 2010's.

I'm really loving Creeped Out on netflix. It's so cheesy but some of the episode visuals are pretty unsettling. Like the robot santa in the newest season that just came out.

It would be great to re-animate old and new creative sections...
