It's Mad Sunday here on the Isle of Man. On a normal year, anyone on the island can ride the TT Mountain Course, going way too fast on a slippery road that kills a couple of expert riders every festival. Cancelled this year due to the outbreak, in honour of a tradition that amounts to "be reckless, possibly die", your themed challenge for today is to create something around Melanie and/or Devon.

Eerie Indiana Filk?

I have about 3 or 4 original songs written but even combined with the couple of covers I want to learn if I can find their guitar chords that's still not enough for an album. I'm really good at writing parodies but I'm not sure how the legal negotiations would have to work for me to parody all the stuff I want to. Regarding writing original filk most of the specific fandoms I'm into to that level are kinda B/C-list (in terms of popularity not quality) even by nerd standards (like Warehouse 13 or Pushing Daisies or the Overwatch lore (I said lore not just game) or Eerie, Indiana) so I'm not sure if tracks about them could actually sell and I find it hard to write original sci-fi or fantasy story songs because I've consumed so much sci-fi or fantasy media that nothing I think of feels original. I've never been in mutual love so nerd/geek love songs are harder and even stuff about mythology/Arthuriana it's hard to feel like I have a unique take

Washington Post on John Astin as Eerie Indiana's Mister Radford

Once he was Gomez Addams, the very embodiment of New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams' strange-but-devoted pater familius.

Once he was a Washington Post carrier too. But more about that later.

Now John Astin is part of NBC's fantasy series, "Eerie, Indiana," playing Radford, the quirky proprietor of The World of Stuff, the ultimate convenience store. Radford, with his crooked smile and piercing eyes, is someone who'll listen to 13-year-old Marshall Teller, played by series star Omri Katz, a kid-detective who believes that his family's new home town is the center of world weirdness. Justin Shenkarow plays Marshall's younger pal, Simon Holmes.

It's a move that NBC hopes will broaden the appeal of a show that operates on one level for kids and another for adults, but has disastrous ratings.

Astin doesn't show up in this week's story but will in subsequent installments. "Eerie, Indiana" may be his best TV venue since "The Addams Family" ran on ABC back in 1964-66.

Deifire on Eerie Indiana and June Something

You get to fuck/marry/kill in one fandom. What's the fandom, and who in the fandom fits each item?

I picked Marshall, Simon, and Dash from Eerie, Indiana and
it turned out to be a harder question than I thought.

Starting assumption: Everyone's aged in the years since we saw them last, but their basic personalities haven't shifted.

So...

Marshall Teller
Pros: Brings the best in-laws. Would probably understand the need to shut oneself in a room and write. Has one hell of an imagination.
Cons: Sometimes selfish and clueless.
Other considerations: Would live in a hoarder house full of weird.

Simon Holmes
Pros: Would be Best Spouse, let's face it. Imaginative, but with more common sense than Marshall.
Cons: Rest of Holmes family as potential in-laws.
Other considerations: I canonically cannot bring myself to kill Simon.

Dash X
Pros: No in-laws. To quote BF: "Dash is probably a Wild Lay"
Cons: Fucking or marrying Dash is a great way to wake up and find half your stuff missing. (And yes, he could and likely would borrow my clothes without asking and mess them up.)
Other considerations: We still don't know what exactly Dash is. Though he does pass the Mary Callahan test for interspecies compatibility, so....

[personal profile] friendof_dorothy (because, yes, I ended up taking this one to the whole fandom) pointed out there also important character interactions to consider. Like, could you marry Simon and then kill his best friend? Or fuck Marshall and marry Dash without chaos ensuing?

Honestly, the killing part would probably have to look like an accident no matter what. Or maybe like somebody just left the planet.

Final Verdict (I think; I reserve the right to change my mind tomorrow):
Fuck Marshall
Marry Simon
Kill Dash
