CFO - Orlando, FL: What was the first pinball table/machine you felt a connection with? What made it so special for you?

“Funhouse. There was a Funhouse table in the Cape Coral location of Mugs 'N' Jugs (that's right, there were TWO places in Lee County bearing that gracious nomenclature) where my dad had to run a series of refrigeration repair jobs during one summer. I usually spent these days with him at the dawn of high school because I was cheap labor, but workaholism tended to stretch his days well into the evenings and once there was no longer a need for my ability to Be Skinny and Get Behind Heavy Things, I was just kinda left to my own devices. Those devices: flip that silver ball; get that replay. Getting to know Funhouse in a darkened, mostly empty bar in the thickest of twilight hours was a singular type of experience, though, probably reinforced by a nascent preoccupation with stuff like Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Twilight Zone & Eerie, Indiana: the taunting of Rudy was emboldening, but his mounting desperation as you nudged the clock further to midnight radiated an almost tangible malice if, say, it's reverberating off the spanish tiles in an empty hallway with only and the backing board and a distant emergency exit lamp providing visibility. That nights made me question the exact nature of Funhouse's tale: what WAS Rudy? Why was he so protective of the Funhouse; so welcoming at the outside, but hostile as you wore out your welcome; why was he so fearful of the slumber induced by that clock? Funhouse tolerated no shortage of unease, from Rudy's incessant harassment to the minor-heavy midi soundtrack to mounting questions about your purpose there. Oh, shit: yes, pinball can tell stories. About a month after that, Twilight Zone hit the streets, indicating a possible root in designer Pat Lawlor's inspiration for Funhouse. Imagine having both of those tables in the same building...“

Serial killers, other dimensions and cherry pie are on the menu, as Blackfriars hosts the ultimate Twin Peaks quiz next week.

The cult TV show ran for two series before being cancelled in the early 90s, but returned to screens last year.

Following on from the success of their Father Ted quiz, Blackfriars are inviting you to test your knowledge of the mystery horror, just in time for Halloween.

Extra tickets available for Glasgow's 'Make Emo Great Again' night
Starting at 8pm on Tuesday night, the quiz will aim to find out who knows their Bobbys from their BOBs and their Normas from their Nadines.

There will be prizes and bonus rounds, as well as a raffle at the end of the night.

Money raised will be donated to charity, with the Father Ted night raising over £300 for Flourish House.

"This isn’t just for die-hard fans of Twin Peaks," assures Nick Sheridan of organiser's Quiz For Good.

"The whole idea of the event is for people to have a good night out and meet people with a shared love of all things Twin Peaks, and most importantly raise funds for a brilliant charity right here in Glasgow city.

Fox Kids Brawler: A beat em up involving characters from shows that aired on Fox Kids including Saban's shows like Power Rangers, Masked Rider, VR Troopers and Beetleborgs along with Mystic Knights Of Tir Na Nog, cartoons like the Ace Ventura animated series, Casper, Eeek The Cat, Animaniacs, Donkey Kong Country as well as shows like Goosebumps, Eerie Indiana and Big Wolf On Campus and their anime shows. It has characters from all those shows as well as levels/stages that are places from the show and it has Super Smash Bros-like elements to it as well as story modes for Big Wolf On Campus, Power Rangers, Beetleborgs, V.R Troopers and Mystic Knights among others.

In addition to this, the game has a multiplayer function and you can also play as characters like Minvera Minx, Ferbus (as a separate character in addition to being Dex's special summoned creature), the Ghostly Trio (each one can possess various characters and mimic their movesets), and the Hillhurst Monsters. You can even watch the characters interact with eachother in the animations, and also there is a Game Of Change inspired version where you can turn into the characters with their personality and voice.

I'm most proud of some of the wild high concept adventures I've come up with and run. They're mostly spread among my Actual Play threads, but to pinpoint a few from my Buffy game: running a "behind the scenes" episode where four of the six players shifted from their regular characters to the actors playing them on a TV show, several other examples like the "Days of Future Past" where a psychic PC was propelled into a post-apocalypse future, and an almost totally improvised session about a PC's miscast spell created a superhero...

It's all about knowing when to steal from Eerie Indiana.
