Long overdue rewatch of The Burbs is taking place, and while this has probably been pointed out a million times before now, Tom Hanks is only watching Mr. Rogers on the television!!!! How brilliant is that? https://t.co/qRBKuDu9VA

Joe Dante never made a bad movie. Fact.

Have you seen The Hole?? That's such a great creepy kids film. Oh, and I'd maybe say Small Soldiers or Gremlins II are a bit wooden.

The Hole is creepy as fuck (that doll!?) - I like Gremlins 2. Explorers ... what a film. Watched that with Jess last year and she loved it. Sheer wonder.

And Matinee... up there with Peter Pan as one of the great underappreciated kids films of our time.
Oh wow. The Explorers! I haven't watched that since a VHS rental kids party back in the day. I'll have to try and track it down this weekend. 🤞

I think I preferred the horror elements of Gremlins. Wasn't quite prepared for the Looney Toons shift in tone of II. It's bonkers.
Explorers is brilliant. Pure 80s nostalgia and young River Phoenix to boot.

Gremlins 2 is mental. But I liked the shift. It was much closer to his original Eerie Indiana vibe than a lot of his movies.
