You have to dig out the stuff that speaks to you from work that is not necessarily meant to speak to you.

Engagement with a show is so personal. And special.
Shows and movies and books have made deep personal impacts on my life in ways the creators probably did not intend.
Thread. I've been thinking a lot about this exact thing from an audience perspective, most recently since I listened to @eerieindianapod's "Heart on a Chain" recap last week. 1/ https://t.co/5QPkU2CZ5M

That ep's a tale of young love and death and perhaps nothing supernatural at all. One of my favorite #eerieindiana eps ever.

Was anything I saw in it about identity, gender, sexuality actually there? Don't know. May never know. Didn't stop it from being a story I needed. 2/
Side note: I grew up and years later met #ZNation, which has such a similar feel to Eerie at times--I mean, they *do* share a creator--plus levels of casual queerness I don't see in genre TV all that often and was all, "Hi! I have been waiting a *very* long time for you!" 3/

(I hope whatever work sparks that feeling next doesn't take 23 more years to appear, but I can be patient.)

Anyway, this is a note to me that I've owed the long version of these thoughts to @Wart_M for his zine for weeks now and should go write. 4/4

A few thoughts that I have Had
Feb. 15th, 2020 10:46 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Anyway.
1. I was talking with D, as I do frequently, about how cool it would be if Eerie fans got to write for any Eerie reboot - because HONESTLY I cannot imagine Eerie continuing without some of the amazing fanon this fandom has come up with. So I had a thought that we could have like. An Eerie writers' room and...create Eerie scripts? And then maybe do an Eerie Continues podcast or something?
I'm not sure how that would work wrt fair use/copyright, but I'm sure we could find a work around. If worse came to worst we could just treat them like podfic. I still have my kiwi6 account that doesn't get nearly enough use.
2. I'm rereading "Pairing: Pendragon/Merlin" cuz it's one of my favorite fics ever written and always gives me warm fuzzies, but it's also making me think about how fandom changes over time and all that and there's also a trans positive Harry Potter zine in the works so I thought: If I curated an Eerie Zine would anyone be interested in a) contributing to it and b) having a copy?
Anyway this is what my brain does when I have too much time to think, apparently.
(DEAREST FROODS, MASTER ARCHIVIST OF EERIE FANDOM, I have no idea how to tag this, I apologize)
